Textured Acrylic Palette Knife Art Brought to Life
Welcome to SL Curry Fine Arts, my fine art studio based in Ridge, NY. I create original acrylic palette knife paintings featuring landscapes, florals, and wildlife. Grounded in years of classical training, my textured, impressionistic style invites you to feel a deep, personal connection to nature on your walls.
An Artist Rooted in Nature
My path began with three years of realistic acrylic study under Jerry Yarnell, followed by two years at the Atelier in St. James focusing on oils and portraiture. Through this classical foundation, I discovered my true passion: impressionistic acrylic palette knife painting. Living in a serene lake community and capturing my travels inspired me to combine rich, sculptured textures with realistic details.
Classically Trained, Nature Inspired
Today, my artwork reflects the landscapes, blooming flora, and local wildlife that surround my daily life. Using palette knives allows me to build thick, three-dimensional layers that catch the light and shift throughout the day. Every piece is an invitation to pause, breathe, and bring the tranquil beauty of the outdoors inside your home or space.
Sandra Curry
Behind the Palette Knife
I am an emerging artist, studio owner, and passionate creator dedicated to painting scenes that evoke emotion and memory. Whether I am capturing a quiet morning walk by Lake Panamoka or sculpting the vibrant petals of a garden flower, my goal is to craft original artwork that resonates deeply with collectors, interior designers, and art lovers alike.
Nestled in Ridge, NY, my studio life is deeply connected to the surrounding Long Island landscape. Many of my favorite pieces stem from simple daily moments—watching the morning light across Lake Panamoka, observing local wildlife on neighborhood walks, or capturing memories from my travels. Painting from this peaceful setting allows me to pour authentic warmth and tranquil energy directly into every canvas I create.

My Process
Each painting begins with a moment in nature that lingers in my mind, a ridge of pines, a quiet lake at dusk, a sudden flash of wings. I sketch lightly, then build thick acrylic with a palette knife, carving texture into the surface. Finally, I add realistic touches so reflections, petals, and animal eyes feel present and familiar.
